Steve’s love for discovering wine and food comes together with his passion for travel. He has lived across different areas in the US and knows every city he has lived in by heart. Here, he shares with us some of the most exciting things to do in every place he has been to and how to experience them best like a local!
MIAMI
When Julia Tuttle allowed the Florida East Coast Railway to pass through her land in the late 1900s, she opened opportunities and paved the way for what is now one of the world’s most bustling and influential metropolises. The City of Miami, also dubbed as “The Magic City” and “the 305”, is home to more than 300 skyscrapers, over 35 miles of white sand beaches, the 444-acre historic Deering Estate, a prominent art district, the Art Deco Festival, and the 2,357-sqm Everglades National Park.
Whether you want to go crocodile-hunting through miles of wetlands, see the entire city from atop the 85-story Panorama Tower, shop luxury brands at Lincoln Road, travel back in time to the jazz era at the Art Deco District, or have a relaxing day at the beach, Miami has them all for you!
LOS ANGELES
Riding on to the west coast, Los Angeles, or “The City of Angels,” is where people flock for the perfect weather. It’s sunny most of the year, yet temperatures remain comfortable. When people think of L.A., we bet some of the first things that come to mind are Hollywood, Disneyland, Malibu, and Sta. Monica Pier. Be as it may, L.A. is more than those. It’s the people, the diversity, and how various cultures come together while preserving their own distinct identities.
Considering just food and wine, you can go on gastronomic trips through the city and try out authentic cuisines from all over the world — Middle-Eastern, French, Asian, South American, and more. If you’re a foodie planning to visit the world’s entertainment capital, visiting the Grand Central Market on Broadway is a must. From Jewish delis to Mexican ceviches, Korean homestyle doshiraks, Latin spices, bagels, and slow-cooked food, you’ll always find something interesting at the Grand Central Market.
AUSTIN
For history buffs and outdoor lovers, Austin is a city you’d want to include in your itinerary. Caverns, wellness parks, springs, and hop-on city tours abound in the Lone Star State’s capital city. It has been repeatedly voted the number 1 place to live in the U.S. and one of the top 4 fastest-growing cities in the country. Overnight visitors can choose from a range of hotels, as low as $70/night budget inns to luxury $700/night rooms at the Four Seasons.
Despite being a bustling city with towering skyscrapers, including the 80-story Wilson Tower designed by one of Burj Khalifa’s architects Brad Wilkins, Austin strives to champion sustainable development and green infrastructure. So if you want to have a breather and enjoy that “slow life” without totally going out of the city, Austin is a great place to be.
LAS VEGAS
Las Vegas combines the best of breathtaking outdoor adventures and luxury entertainment. While the city is most famous for its hotels, casinos, and shows (mostly along the tourist-flocked Las Vegas strip), we recommend exploring specialty restaurants and unique nature activities outside mainstream attractions.
